About Us
We started as a custom service at a local auto body shop.
Our customers kept asking for a more affordable solution for their rusty vehicles. We wanted an easier installation process and something that wouldn't come back with rust in a few years.
We partnered with our local university to make our first prototypes of plastic slip-on rockers. It worked and our customers loved the idea!
As demand grew, it outpaced our manual production process,
so we built our own factory.
The size and complexity of Quick Covers required custom manufacturing equipment and processes. Unable to find a local manufacturer that could accommodate our needs, we built one from scratch.
Years of incremental, bold improvements have resulted in something unique; a micro-semi-automated factory in the heartland.
Today, Original Appearance Manufacturing continues to operate with a design-centric approach. We make things that are practical (Quick Covers), useful (T RuK), and transformative (-coming soon-). By continuously reinvesting in the business we have built a small but mighty factory that playfully blends technology with human ingenuity. OAM recently acquired a 20,000 square foot facility in Ames, IA to support continued growth.
